Today, I offer you some kind advice.
Do NOT rent this movie...it is, perhaps, the slowest, most pointless movie. I love Anthony Hopkins, Gywneth Paltrow and Jake Gyllenhaal but, dear god, this was a bad movie.
I don't know why, but I have a knack for sniffing out the WORST movies...I don't know what it is...but if there is a lame movie to be rented, I'm going to rent it. If I were a truffle hunting pig, I would, most certainly be bacon by now. I did rent Crash recently and THAT was a good movie...very thought provoking and layered...I like that kind of thing. I also watched Sketches of Frank Gehry...super inspirational and interesting.
So, if you have any suggestions for movies...send them on and please don't send sucky recommendations.

I recommend that whoever made that first comment both get their vision checked and then go charm school .. and as far as movies still in the theater, I can wholeheartedly recommend The Departed
"The Constant Gardener" is a great movie.
I saw Proof on Broadway with Mary Louise Parker and it was the best show I'd ever seen. Then again, I have a crush on MLP. Never saw the movie and not interested.
Check out Little Miss Sunshine. You won't be dissapointed.

Everything is Illuminated. You will laugh and cry and wonder why you didn't see it before now (unless you have of course). It was beautifully shot, and keeps you inside the characters minds rather than waiting for their dialog. Brilliant! Read the book also.
When I go to the museum, I am naturally attracted to certain artists. Likewise, when I rent a movie or go to the theater, I always gravitate to certain directors. If you are looking for an interesting, sentimental movie, get something that Jean-Pierre Jeunett directed. Life of Pi will be fantastic. (Alien: Resurrection, his blockbuster debut, is the exception.) If you want a quiet, thoughtful film, get a Jim Jarmusch film. Dead Man is a masterpiece of patience, and Broken Flowers was excellent. Woody Allen, who is now a strange pervert, directed some of the most romantic and funny films in history, and his romances don't always involve people, which is a nice change. Manhattan is an incredible film if you love New York. Hal Ashby, Alfred Hitchcock, Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick . . . Finally, if you haven't seen Cinema Paradiso, rent it when you have a chance. It's wonderful.
